(1) Cardinal John TONG has made the following appointments:
(a) Effective 1 June 2016 and until further notice
Rev. Philip CHAN, in addition to his current office as Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Parish (Aberdeen, Hong Kong), is to be appointed Acting Rector of Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, Lamma Island, Hong Kong, in place of Rev. Edward J. PHILLIPS, MM, who will be given a new assignment by his own Superior.
(b) Effective 15 June 2016
Rev. Guillermo SOTO MARTINEZ, MG, ceases to be Assistant Parish Priest in Mother of Christ Parish, Sheung Shui, New Territories; he will be given a new assignment by his own Superior.
Bro. Arjay VENUS, SVD, after receiving diaconal ordination on 9 June 2016, is to assist in the pastoral ministry of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Kennedy Town, Hong Kong.
(c) Effective 7 August 2016
Rev. Ezakias ANTHONYSWAMY, CMF, ceases to be Assistant Parish Priest in Rosary Parish, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon, and is to be appointed Assistant Parish Priest in Epiphany Parish, Lantau Island South, Mui Wo and Peng Chau, Hong Kong.
Rev. Sergio Arturo CHAVIRA ALVAREZ, MG, ceases to be Assistant Parish Priest in Annunciation Parish, Tsuen Wan, New Territories, and is to be appointed Assistant Parish Priest in the above-mentioned Rosary Parish.
(d) Effective 15 August 2016
Rev. Ambrose MONG, OP, is to be appointed Assistant Parish Priest in St. Teresa’s Parish, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon.
Rev. Peter ZHAO Guitian ceases to be Assistant Parish Priest in Our Lady of Rosary Parish, Kennedy Town, Hong Kong, and is to be appointed Assistant Parish Priest in Star of the Sea Parish, Chaiwan, Hong Kong.
Rev. Dominic LUI Chi-man is to be appointed Assistant Parish Priest in the above-mentioned Our Lady of the Rosary Parish.
(e) Effective 1 September 2016
Rev. Pietro GALBIATI, PIME, and Rev. Thomas WEI Si-sin, cease to be Assistant Parish Priests in the Cathedral Parish, Central District and Mid-Levels, Hong Kong; they will retire and reside at the Catholic Diocese Centre, Caine Road, Hong Kong.
Rev. Luke PARK Young Sup, BMC, is to be appointed Assistant Parish Priest in the above-mentioned Cathedral Parish.
Rev. Gregoire VIGNOLA, PME, ceases to be Assistant Parish Priest in Resurrection Parish, Kwun Tong, Kowloon, and is to be appointed Assistant Parish Priest in the above-mentioned Cathedral Parish.
(2) The Council of Caritas-Hong Kong, presided over by Cardinal John TONG, has appointed Rev. James BOEY as Assistant Chief Executive, with effect from 1 July 2016. On the same day, Rev. BOEY ceases to be Assistant Parish Priest in St. Teresa’s Parish, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon.
II. SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE APOSTOLIC SEE
On the basis of Canon 1271, the Apostolic See is making an explicit appeal for more contribution from the local Churches according to their resources, so that they may give greater support to the Apostolic See in its service to the universal Church. As an expression of the bond of unity and charity between our diocese and the Apostolic See, parishes are to take up a second collection at all public Masses on 26 June 2016 (Sunday).
Cheques issued for the above specific purpose should be made payable to “The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong” and sent to the Diocesan Procuration.
