The 51st World Communications Day will be celebrated on the Solemnity of the Ascension, 28 May 2016. The main theme is “Fear not, for I am with you (Is 43:5: Communicating Hope and Trust in our Time”.
In accordance with the usual practice, a second collection for the promotion of the media apostolate in our diocese is to be taken up at all public Masses.
Cheques should be made payable to “The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong” and sent to the Diocesan Procuration.
III. PASTORAL HANDBOOK (REVISED EDITION – 2017)
The Pastoral Handbook is a compilation of the pastoral regulations and directives of our Diocese. The first edition, which was promulgated by the late Bishop John B WU in 1982, has just been revised with the approval of Cardinal John TONG. To introduce the new pastoral regulations and directives in the revised edition of the Pastoral Handbook, the following public talks will be held:
1.Briefing Session ― 24 May 2017 (Wednesday)
Speakers: Revv. Lawrence Lee, David Chan and Thomas Law.
Participants: The target groups are priests and deacons with full-time assignments in parishes or diocesan institutions, as well as pastoral sisters; other priests are also welcome to attend.
Time: 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Venue: Multi-Media Lecture Theatre (A103), Caritas Institute of Higher Education, 2 Chui Ling Lane, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories, Hong Kong.
2.Public Talks ― 25 May 2017 (Thursday)
Themes: On Administration, Finance and Personnel Management of a Parish.
Speakers: Revv. David Chan and Edward Khong.
Participants: Parish secretaries and other parish staff.
Times: 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Venues: Auditorium, 9/F, Catholic Diocese Centre, 16 Caine Road, Hong Kong.
3. Public Talks ― 26 May 2017 (Friday)
Themes: Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist.
Speakers: Revv. Lawrence Lee, Thomas Law and representatives of the Diocesan Catechetical Centre.
Participants: Priests, deacons, pastoral sisters, parish secretaries and other parish staff, catechists of adult catechism classes and Sunday schools, parochial lay liturgical ministers and lay people in general.

1st session: 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.(*)
(Auditorium, 9/F, Catholic Diocese Centre, 16 Caine Road, Hong Kong)
2nd session: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.(*) (Cathedral)
(*) Same talks will be given at both sessions.
4. Public Talks ― 29 May 2017 (Monday)
Themes: Anointing of the Sick, Pastoral care of the Sick and Funerals.
Speakers: Revv. Dominic Chan, VG, Lawrence Lee, Thomas Law and representatives of the Diocesan Commission for Hospital Pastoral Care.
Participants: Priests, deacons, pastoral sisters, pastoral workers at hospitals, parish secretaries and other parish staff, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, bereavement groups and lay people in general.
