John Cardinal Tong, Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong announcing the resumption of public Masses :

Dear brothers and sisters,

May the peace of our Lord be with you.

In the past few months, because of the pandemic, everyone can only attend Sunday Mass online to fulfil the obligation of being a faithful. Thanks be to God that the situation is easing.

The Government has amended the prohibition on group gathering recently. We may resume weekday public Masses from 1st June on Monday and Sunday public Masses from 7th June, The Holy Trinity Sunday.

For those who are worried of getting infected by the pandemic if they come to Sunday Masses, for the time being, you may attend Sunday Mass online and receive spiritual Communion to fulfil the obligation of being the faithful.

As the congregation has to be limited to half of the normal capacity of the church, members of the faithful may take part in a weekday Mass instead of the Sunday Mass. Please refer to the website of the Diocese or check with your local parish for details.

I would like to thank everyone for being so considerate and accommodating. The pandemic is far from being over. We must carry on with our preventive measures. When we stand by each other with hope and count on our Lord, I am sure Peace will be with us.

God Bless you all.
