CHANCERY NOTICE

I. APPOINTMENTS AND TRANSFERS

Bishop Michael YEUNG has made the following appointments with effect from 15 October 2017:

 

1. Vicars General

In addition to the two currently appointed Vicars General, Bishop Joseph HA Chi-shing, OFM, and Rev. Dominic CHAN Chi-ming, Revv. Peter CHOY Wai-man and Benedict LAM Cho-ming are also to be appointed Vicars General.

Rev. Benedict LAM Cho-ming will remain in office as Parish Priest of St. Andrew’s Parish, Tseung Kwan O, Kowloon, until further notice.

The four Vicars General are ex officio members of the Board of Diocesan Consultors, the Diocesan Personnel Commission, the Council of Priests and the Diocesan Pastoral Council.

 

2. Board of Consultors

Revv. Renzo MILANESE, PIME, and Joseph NG Shu-shing are to be appointed Board Members in place of Revv. Joseph YIM Tak-lung and Luigi Bonalumi, PIME.

 

3. Diocesan Personnel Commission

Rev. Joseph LIU Ah-lun is to be appointed Member of the Commission in place of Rev. Philip CHAN Tak-hung.


4. Council of Priests

Revv. Renzo MILANESE, PIME, Jacob KWOK Wai-ki and Joseph NG Shu-shing are to be appointed Council Members until 30 November 2018, in place of Revv. Luigi BONALUMI, PIME, and Paul KAM Po-wai.


II. DIVISION OF WORK AMONG THE VICARS GENERAL

By delegation of Bishop Michael YEUNG, the four Vicars General will share the following administrative and pastoral responsibilities with effect from 15 October 2017 ――
Bishop Joseph HA Chi-shing, OFM

Bishop Joseph HA, OFM, apart from his office as Rector of the Holy Spirit Seminary, will take up the following responsibilities:
1. Chairperson of Diocesan Vocations Commission
2. Convener of Diocesan Committee in support of Parochial Social Concern Committees (in place of Rev. Dominic CHAN, VG)
3. Co-ordination of the work of each of the following diocesan bodies:
3.1 Diocesan Youth Commission
3.2 Justice and Peace Commission of the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese


Rev. Dominic CHAN Chi-ming

Rev. Dominic CHAN, apart from his office as Parish Priest of the Cathedral Parish, will take up the following responsibilities:

1. Chairperson of Diocesan Commission for the Permanent Diaconate and Director of Formation for Permanent Deacons
2. Chairperson of Steering Group for Co-operation between Caritas and Parishes (in place of Bishop Michael Yeung)
3. Chairperson of Management Committee of Cathedral Compound
4. Co-ordination of the work of each of the following diocesan bodies or communities:
4.1 Parish Matters
4.2 Diocesan Computerised Records Centre
4.3 Diocesan Liturgy Commission
4.4 Diocesan Sacred Music Commission
4.5 Diocesan Building and Development Commission
4.6 Diocesan Board of Catholic Cemeteries
4.7 Prison Chaplaincies and related Lay Apostolates

Rev. Peter CHOY Wai-man

Rev. Peter CHOY, apart from his office as President of the Holy Spirit Seminary College of the Theology and Philosophy, will take up the following responsibilities:

1. Administration of the Bishop’s Office
2. Chairperson of Commission for Ongoing Formation of the Clergy (in place of Bishop Michael YEUNG)
3. Applications for Long-term Vacation Leave/ Further Studies of Diocesan Clergy
4. Chairperson of Board of Directors of the Catholic Truth Society of Hong Kong (in place of Bishop Michael YEUNG)
5. Chairperson of Diocesan Commission for Ongoing Formation of the Laity (in place of Bishop Joseph HA, OFM, VG)
6. Chairperson of Board of Directors of Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong Laity Formation Fund (in place of Rev. Dominic CHAN, VG)
7. Chairperson of Diocesan Ecumenical Commission (in place of Bishop Michael YEUNG)
8. Co-ordination of the work of each of the following diocesan bodies:
8.1 Diocesan Commission for Interreligious Dialogue
8.2 Diocesan Catechetical Commission / Centre


Rev. Benedict LAM Cho-ming

Rev. Lam will take up the following responsibilities:

1. Chairperson of Diocesan Commission for Health Care of the Clergy and Religious (in place of Rev. Dominic CHAN, VG)
2. Funerals of Diocesan Clergy
3. Diocesan Annual Celebration for Jubilarians
4. Convener of Diocesan Committee for Mission Sunday Celebration
5. Convener of Ad Hoc Committee for Diocesan year-long celebrations with specific themes
6. Co-ordination of the work of each of the following diocesan bodies or communities:
6.1 Diocesan Pastoral Commission for Marriage and the Family
6.2 Diocesan Committee for Bioethics
6.3 Hong Kong Catholic Commission for Labour Affairs and Diocesan Pastoral Centres for Workers
6.4 Diocesan Commission for Pastoral Services to the Disabled and Diocesan Pastoral Centre for the Disabled
6.5 Diocesan Commission for Hospital Pastoral Care and Hospital Chaplaincies
6.6 Apostleship of the Sea
6.7 Airport Chaplaincy
6.8 Hong Kong Catholic Biblical Association
6.9 Small Communities of Faith
6.10 Contact with Hong Kong Central Council of Catholic Laity

1. The following matters will be handled by Bishop Michael Yeung himself:
1.1 Applications and Extensions of Visas for Clergy and Members of Religious Institutes and Societies of Apostolic Life at the Immigration Department and Consulates
1.2 Interrelationship between Holy Spirit Seminary, Holy Spirit Seminary College of Theology and Philosophy, and Holy Spirit Study Centre
1.3 Chairperson of Diocesan Commission for Pastoral Services to Filipino Migrants
1.4 Co-ordination of the work of each of the following diocesan bodies or communities:
(a) Diocesan Pastoral Centre for Filipinos
(b) Hong Kong Catholic Board of Communications
(c) Hong Kong Catholic Social Communications Office
(d) Diocesan Audio-Visual Centre
(e) Diocesan Weeklies (Kung Kao Po/ Sunday Examiner)
(f) Matters related to Religious Institutes, Societies of Apostolic Life or Personal Prelature
(g) Pastoral Ministry to Ethnic Communities
2. Matters regarding the Tridentine Liturgy Community will be handled by Rev. Lawrence LEE, Chancellor, and Rev. Thomas LAW, Director of the Office of the Diocesan Liturgy Commission.
3. The Episcopal Delegate for Education, Mr. Peter LAU, will be responsible for co-ordinating the work of all the diocesan bodies related to Catholic education, including the Hong Kong Catholic Board of Education, the Hong Kong Catholic Education Development Committee and the Central Management Committee for Diocesan Schools.
