CHANCERY NOTICE

To:   All Parish Priests

EMERGENCY RELIEF FOR INDIAN FLOODED REGIONS

The Kerala State in Southern India is at present facing heavy floods with a heavy death toll and devastating damages.  Even though the Indian government has declined foreign aids, Bishop Michael Yeung, in view of the solidarity of the Church with those who are in need of help, as well as the communion between ecclesial communities, has made an appeal for prayers to be offered for the flood victims and for all parishes to take up a special collection by whatever convenient means (for example, providing a donation box in the church) on coming Sunday (August 26) or the following Sunday (September 2).

Cheques from parishes should be made payable to “Caritas – Hong Kong” (with the indication “Indian floods” at the back) and sent to the Finance Office, Caritas – Hong Kong, Room 407, Caritas House, 2 Caine Road, Hong Kong.

The relief funds will be sent to the persons-in-charge in the flooded regions with the assistance of Caritas Internationalis.

Given at the Chancery Office,

24 August 2018.

Rev. Lawrence LEE
