EPISCOPAL ORDINATION OF THE
MOST REVEREND STEPHEN CHOW SAU YAN, S.J.
AS BISHOP OF HONG KONG

The Episcopal Ordination of the Most Reverend Stephen Chow Sau Yan, S.J., as Bishop of Hong Kong, will be officiated by Cardinal John TONG.
Media organizations are invited to cover the event. Details as below:

Venue: Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 16 Caine Road, Hong Kong
(No parking service available)

As the episcopal ordination is a solemn religious event and also due to the pandemic, there is a restriction on the press capacity at the Cathedral and at the Caritas Community Hall. Therefore, the press and broadcast engineers will ONLY be allowed to operate in the designated “Press Area” on a first-come first-served basis. Once the “Press Area” at the Cathedral is full, the press will have to report in the designated “Press Area” at the Community Hall, 5/F, Caritas House.
(The same applies to media colleagues who arrive after the ceremony has started).

Press counter will operate at 1:30 pm. The whole ceremony will be around 2 ½ hours.
Please keep silent during the ceremony. No flash photography in the Cathedral.

Would all media colleagues please follow our instructions on reporting in designated area.

The ceremony will be broadcast live at the diocesan website : www.catholic.org.hk and all media colleagues are welcome to share our audio signals.

After the ceremony, Bishop Stephen Chow Sau Yan, S.J., will have a brief meeting with the press at around 6pm at the Marian Shrine in the Cathedral Compound.

Due to the pandemic, the Diocese has made the following arrangements :
i) Body temperature screening for all attendees ;
ii) Attendees are required to wear a mask ;
iii) Mandatory use of “Leave Home Safe” mobile app. by attendees.
