The exceptionally heavy rains on 8th and 9th September this year has caused serious landslides and blockages to access roads at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Chai Wan. To resume normal services, urgent repair works have to be carried out, the expenses of which far exceed the ordinary running expenses of the said Cemetery. Therefore, Cardinal Stephen CHOW, S.J., has decided that all parishes are to take up a second Sunday collection during Mass, either on 8th or 15th October 2023, in aid of the aforementioned repair works.
The funds collected should be sent to the Diocesan Procuration with cheques made payable to “Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong” with the indication “Urgent repairs of Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery” at the back).
