IV. ASH WEDNESDAY (February 14)
As this year Ash Wednesday (February 14), being the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, falls within its festivities, the faithful are dispensed from fast and abstinence on that day in accordance with the practice of our Diocese. The faithful, however, are still obliged to choose for themselves some other suitable forms of penance or acts of charity.
The Proper Mass for Ash Wednesday should be adopted with the blessing and distribution of ashes.
During Lent all the faithful are obliged to pray more and to perform more acts of penance and charity, such as family prayers, rosary, meditation on the liturgical texts of daily Masses, performing the Way of the Cross and caring for the material or spiritual needs of the poor and the socially marginalized.
