          The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong
  mourns the death of
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

On behalf of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong and the faithful, Bishop Stephen Chow, S.J. of the Diocese of Hong Kong expresses his deepest condolences on the death of His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who returned to our Lord peacefully on 31 December 2022.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI was elected Pope 19 April 2005 and installed on 24 April 2005 at the age of 78, as the 265th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He renounced his Papal ministry on 28 February 2013. A multilingual man with profound theological foundation and impactful writings, he was respected and loved by the members of the Church during his pontificate and beyond.
