Catholic Church in Hong Kong Raising Fund for Earthquake Victims in Sichuan


Cardinal Joseph ZEN, Bishop of Hong Kong, is appealing to the faithful to pray for the victims in Sichuan and to make generous donations for their emergency relief and rehabilitation. The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong together with Caritas Hong Kong has allocated HK$2,000,000 emergency fund for immediate release through Caritas Hong Kong. Meanwhile, all Catholic parishes and faithful continue to contribute for fund-raising. Caritas-Internationalis is highly concerned about the victims, and has pledged to assist in rehabilitation.

Donations are welcome to be sent to the Accounts Office, Caritas-Hong Kong, Room 830, Caritas House, 2 Caine Road, Hong Kong, by cheques made payable to “Caritas-Hong Kong (Special Donations)” (with indication “Earthquake Victims in Sichuan” at the back). Donations may also be credited directly into Caritas-Hong Kong’s account at ICBC (Asia), Current Account No. 721-010-001606 in the name of Caritas-Hong Kong (Special Donations). Donors should indicate their names and addresses if they wish to have receipts for tax deduction purposes.
