CHANCERY NOTICE

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

The 57th World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be celebrated on the Fourth Sunday of Easter, 3 May 2020.

In his Message this year, Pope Francis has chosen the gospel passage about the calming of the storm and the safe journey of the disciples by boat to their destination (cf. Mt. 14:22-33) as the theme for reflection, highlighting the following aspects to be born in mind by a person who has received the Lord’s calling:

  • “gratitude” to God for one’s calling;

  • openness to the “encouragement” of Jesus, setting aside all worries and doubts;

  • courage to bear the “fatigue” involved in responding to one’s vocation, and trusting that Jesus, our companion, will sustain us in braving storms and hardships.

  • turning one’s own witness to God’s calling into a hymn of “praise” to Him.

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the special collection in support of the diocesan Holy Spirit Seminary, to be taken up during Mass on this occasion, is to be postponed until further notice.

Given at the Chancery Office,

20 April 2020.

Rev. Lawrence LEE

Chancellor
